Introduction, notes and warnings on GPS

Introduction: Members of the Alumni Association hiked every trail, visited every Nobscot tentsite, cabin, lodge, Lean-to, pavilion, well pump and latrine. We captured GPS coordinates and measured distances from the parking lot to provide you with this GPS coordinate table. The accompanying image shows the scope of the GPS coordinates captured.

How to use GPS

Enter exactly the complete Latitude and Longitude below, separated by a comma, into your mobile phone's GPS mapping application (Google Maps, Apple Maps, etc.) and set it to show a 'Satelite'View'. This will show approximate distance and bearings to a location of interest. Note: double check the coordinates you entered. Even a minor error in entering a site’s coordinates will result in a completely incorrect location, possibly miles off.

Note: The Nobscot tree canopy results in measured GPS coordinates being approximate and is too thick to visually identify most trails, cabins or campsites when using most commercially available GPS mapping

Warning: This material is provided with no warranty. It may help responsible people to enjoy Nobscot. Never rely solely on a map from a phone App for your safety. If using GPS for more than a very short period, bring along a portable cell phone charging power bank. As a general rule, there is no location for most groups visiting Nobscot to charge a cellphone. Always supplement with a Nobscot Map, know where you are, and be responsible for your own safety.
