Philmont Shakedowns @ Nobscot

We have what you need!

 With miles of trails accessible from/to Nobscot and plenty of elevation gain possible, you can design your journey and land at one of our three Standard Tent sites that include bear bag lines and grey water sumps.   We also have loaner equipment that will allow you practice the Philmont methods for hanging bear bags, cooking and cleaning.   If you have a crew or two headed to Philmont and don't want the long drive to the White or Green Mountains, check us out.

Getting Started

1. Check out our Maps page

2. Decide on which Tentsite/s (#8, #14, #37) you would like to overnight at

3. Plan your routes for your backpacking days 

   1.  The Bay Circuit Trail intersects Nobscot

   2. Nobscot abuts several other conservation areas with awesome hiking trails 

   3. You can always start from the Nobscot Scout Reservation Parking Lot OR ....

      • Whittenborg Woods Parking lot off of Wayside Inn Road (42.3445, -71.4669)

      • Callahan State Park Parking Lot off of Edmands Road

      • Longer hikes can start farther west on Bay Circuit Trail, including starting at Callahan Start Park on Broadmeadow Road in Marlborough

4. Make your reservation - if you want to borrow the gear listed below put "Philmont Crew Gear" in the planned activity field in the reservation.
